Houston’s Celebs Are Just Better Than Yours 

J’adore Dior … and Travis Scott?

Last week, we talked about Travis Scott hiding free Astroworld tickets in packs of his hard seltzers. Meanwhile, Scott was moving on to bigger and better things. 

The Bayou City rapper and producer has partnered with Christian Dior and Creative Director Kim Jones for the luxury fashion brand’s 2021 summer men’s collection. Called Cactus Jack Dior (after Scott’s record label), the line is the designer’s first-ever full collection with a musician. 

The 51-piece line, which includes a T-shirt in tribute to the late Pop Smoke, who was killed earlier this year, features plenty of Texas/cactus imagery; well-tailored jackets, pants, and more; plus a certain streetwear-meets-couture vibe. 

The line premiered last week during Paris Fashion Week in a show that seemed to be a cross between Scott’s 2021 Astroworld Fest poster and desert motifs, a throwback to Dior’s first collection back in 1947. 

Anyways … remember last year when we were stoked about Scott’s collab with McDonald’s? What did we know then? 

Yet Another Hot Girl Summer

Megan Thee Stallion was already having a good awards season, but last weekend, it got even better. 

The Houston rapper walked into the BET Awards last Sunday with seven nominations. She walked out with four wins (the most of anyone that night): Best Female Hip-hop Artist; Best Collaboration, for “WAP” with Cardi B; Viewer’s Choice Award, for “Savage (Remix)” featuring Beyoncé; and Video of the Year (for “WAP”). 

She’s definitely having another Hot Girl (Award?) Summer. I mean, did you even see her jaw-dropping performance at the show?

Houston, we have yet another ranking report for you from WalletHub. The personal finance website regularly shares studies on the best cities in America for various superlatives, like the most diverse city (us, obviously). 

This week, it looked at the best city for Fourth of July celebrations. Spoiler: it’s not Houston. We came in 24th place, which isn’t great considering we’re the fourth largest city in the U.S, but we did at least beat out Austin (because who really wants to try to find parking near Zilker Park, anyways?) and San Antonio.  

To get these results, WalletHub looked at the 100 largest cities across the country for holiday fun and it’s cost. Here’s how we did across some of the categories: 

• First: Legality of fireworks (Not sure where you can shoot off fireworks? We have a guide.)
• First: Prevalence of cost-friendly 4.5-star restaurants (Houston’s a foodie town, if you didn’t already know.)
• Third: Amount of holiday festivals and performances (This should be obvious, given how awesome our celebs are.)
• Fourth: Lowest three-star hotel room price (You can also book a rock-star room at Hotel Zaza.)
• 56th: Duration of a fireworks show (At least we have a ton of fireworks show options.)
• 59th: Average beer and wine prices (Ehh, we’ll take our Saint Arnold anyways.)
