As with the meticulous design of garments and makeup looks, the soundtrack is a crucial element to any runway. It sets the all important tone of the collection and after all, it’s the tune that will be played over and over again through social media. Saint Laurent has become synonymous with world-class music production so it only makes sense the French fashion house would immortalise the soundtrack.
In celebration of the long-term collaboration between creative director Anthony Vaccarello and the French electronic musician, artist and producer SebastiAn, Saint Laurent Rive Droite stores is launching an exclusive boxset of 12 vinyls.
Entitled “FREQUENCIES”, the collection will feature soundtracks from “Saint Laurent Women’s Spring Summer 17” to “Saint Laurent Women’s Summer 21” fashion shows.
“When we started, I proposed to compose some new music specifically for the show, especially for the clothes’ themes, instead of just adding some already existing music,” SebastiAn told PAPER following the Saint Laurent Spring/Summer 2020 presentation. “It was more about something that could be the ‘soundtrack’ of the looks and the mood they were creating all around the show, like you could do for a movie.”
To further expand the ever fashionable music universe, Anthony Vaccarello has designed a new limited edition speaker in collaboration with Bang & Olufsen – the Beosound Edge. This wireless speaker offers a timeless design and acoustic innovation for a listening experience that inspires the imagination. Transport yourself beyond worldly borders to the front row of fashion week.
While the boxset and individual vinyls will be created in limited quantities, the tracks can also be found on Spotify, Deezer and Apple Music from July 1. The speaker is available in both Rive Droite stores and YSL.com.
Your WFH playlist never sounded so chic.
